Pet memorial
A pet memorial that earns the silence.
A considered pet memorial for your own dog or cat: a painted memorial portrait made from their photograph and the stories you tell us. Not rushed, not generic, not reaching for sentiment it hasn’t earned.
When a pet dies, the house gets quieter in ways you don't notice until later, the empty hook where their lead used to hang, the floor they always slept on, the sound of their feet coming up the stairs when the fridge opens. A pet memorial isn't about filling that silence. It's about giving the silence somewhere to live.
A Small Goodbyes portrait is painted from your own photo in oil, watercolour, charcoal, line or pastel, printed to order in the UK.
How it works
You upload between three and twenty photos. You answer five short prompts about them: what made you laugh, what they loved, what you'll miss. The canvas follows in about a week.
No account. No subscription. No dashboards. One order, one memorial.
Buying this for someone else who's grieving? The same portrait, shipped to them unbranded, with the giving handled gently, lives on our pet memorial gifts page.
For dogs and cats
Our canvas style and portrait prompts are tuned specifically for dogs and cats. We'll add more species as we grow, but forcing the same treatment onto every animal doesn't produce anything good.
Honest about AI
We use AI tools to draft and illustrate the portrait from your photo and stories. A human reviews every piece before it reaches you. If any of it doesn't feel right, we rework it, or refund in full.
How this differs from other pet memorial gifts
Most pet memorial gift options online are small individual items: a personalised dog or cat photo frame, a custom pet plaque you can engrave with a name and dates, a wooden pet memorial bauble, a ceramic paw print impression, a memorial photo print, a memory box for the collar and a few keepsakes. We don't make any of those, and our portrait isn't trying to compete with them. They're objects of remembrance, small, specific, fixed. The painted portrait we make is a different shape: a considered likeness on the wall, made from the photo and the memories you actually gave us. It lives alongside whatever paw print, memorial plaque, or photo frame the household has chosen, it doesn't replace those, it adds a different register.
Many UK pet sympathy gifts and bereavement gifts focus on one heartfelt physical object. A personalised pet portrait of the dog or cat as themselves is what you see every day: the register that holds them properly, rather than standing in for them generically. As a personalised pet memorial gift it's designed to mark the loss specifically, not generically.
What an appropriate gift looks like when a pet dies
The most appropriate gift when a pet dies is one specific to that pet: a painted portrait made from their photograph, not a generic sympathy card, not a stock pet remembrance verse, not the personalised pet memorial gifts that lean on engraving the name onto something otherwise generic. What you're trying to do as the giver is mark the loss of this specific dog or cat, not the abstract category "lost pet", but this one with their specific habits and patch of the sofa. The portrait is intended as that kind of pet bereavement gift: heartfelt without leaning on stock phrasing, considered without being expensive enough to embarrass.

Questions
Questions, answered
What if the canvas doesn't look like them?+
We email you a preview before anything is printed. If it isn't right, tell us and we rework it. You're never charged for a print you haven't approved, and you can get a full refund any time before printing starts.
Is it really made by AI?+
We use AI to draft the portrait and the words, then a person reviews every piece by hand before it reaches you. We don't auto-send anything. We never invent photos, clone voices, or generate video: only a painted-style portrait from the photo you give us and words built from your own memories.
How long does it take?+
Digital pieces arrive the same day. Printed pieces like the canvas are made to order in the UK and posted within about 5–9 working days.
What photo should I use?+
Any clear photo works: any age, any angle, any camera. The painted style holds across coat colours and breeds. If you have one you love, that’s the one to use.
Can I order this for someone else who's grieving?+
Yes. Enter what you know (the name, the details you remember) and we ship to their address. The canvas arrives unbranded, so it reads as a gift, not a purchase.
What happens to my photos?+
We never share or sell them. We delete the originals 90 days after your order.
