Frenchie memorial

For the Frenchie who filled every room they entered.

A painted memorial portrait of your Frenchie, from your photo.

French Bulldogs are not subtle dogs. The ears alone announce them from across a room: two large, upright triangles that catch every sound with what looks like complete seriousness. And then they'd snort, or sneeze, or make that particular grumbling noise that sounded like a very small old man disagreeing with the weather. And everyone smiled. Every time.

The flat you lived in together felt different when it was quiet. That's the thing about a Frenchie. They took up more space than their size suggested.

A Small Goodbyes portrait is painted from your own photo in oil, watercolour, charcoal, line or pastel, printed to order in the UK.

What the canvas captures about a Frenchie

The bat ears are the obvious thing, and yes, they go in. But a good portrait of a French Bulldog is really about the face: the flat muzzle, the rolls of skin above it, the enormous dark eyes that always looked slightly astonished by the world. The expression that wandered between "deeply suspicious" and "completely delighted" with no apparent middle ground.

Our intake asks for the details that make the portrait yours rather than a stock Frenchie illustration: the exact colouring (fawn, brindle, pied, blue, cream), the markings, the way they sat, the tilt they did when you picked up a word they knew. The painted-style canvas is warm and unhurried. Something you'd put on a wall and leave there for years.

The stories that stay with you

French Bulldogs accrue stories the way other dogs accrue mud. There was probably an incident with a piece of food. There were almost certainly opinions about the sofa arrangements. There was definitely a noise (that particular gurgling snore, audible from another room) that you find yourself listening for now, and it isn't there.

We use AI tools to draft and illustrate, then we check every piece by hand before it reaches you. If what comes back doesn't feel right, you tell us and we rework it, or we refund you in full.

Frenchie memorials as a gift

French Bulldogs tend to be city dogs, often the only pet in a flat or a small house, often deeply attached to one person. If someone you know has lost theirs, this is a considered thing to send. We can ship the canvas to their address, unbranded, with a plain note if you'd like one. The whole thing arrives as something thoughtful rather than something purchased in haste.

If you'd like to write something yourself, our guide to writing a pet eulogy takes you through it step by step.

How the order works

The intake takes about ten minutes. Upload your clearest photo (a straight-on or three-quarter view in decent natural light is ideal) and answer five short prompts about who they were. You don't need full sentences. You need a handful of honest details.

Your portrait takes 5–9 working days to print and post in the UK. We also ship internationally if you need it sent abroad.

The first days after losing a French Bulldog

The practical questions are unpleasant to face, and most people haven't had to think through them before. A few plain answers for UK owners:

The Blue Cross Pet Bereavement line, 0800 096 6606, is free and staffed by people who understand pet loss specifically. No wrong reason to call.

Marking a Frenchie's life in small ways

The canvas is one way to keep them present. There are smaller ones too: the photo in the spot where their crate used to be; the name written somewhere permanent in a notebook or a family record; the story told, properly, to someone who never met them. French Bulldogs have a way of being the dog that non-dog-people remembered, because they were funny and loud and entirely themselves. That's worth writing down, somewhere, before the details blur.

The dog memorial page covers the wider range of breeds if you're still deciding what feels right.

Questions

Questions, answered

What if the canvas doesn't look like them?+

We email you a preview before anything is printed. If it isn't right, tell us and we rework it. You're never charged for a print you haven't approved, and you can get a full refund any time before printing starts.

Is it really made by AI?+

We use AI to draft the portrait, then a person reviews every piece by hand before it reaches you. We don't auto-send anything. We never invent photos, clone voices, or generate video: only a painted-style portrait from the photo you give us.

How long does it take?+

Your portrait is made to order in the UK and posted within about 5–9 working days.

What photo should I use?+

Any clear photo works: any age, any angle, any camera. The painted style holds across coat colours and breeds. If you have one you love, that's the one to use.

Can I order this for someone else who's grieving?+

Yes. Enter what you know (the name, the details you remember) and we ship to their address. The canvas arrives unbranded, so it reads as a gift, not a purchase.

What happens to my photos?+

We never share or sell them. We delete the originals 90 days after your order.
